On the Sixth Sunday after Pentecost, the Sunday of the Healing of the Paralytic, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau.
The Metropolitan was assisted at the service by Vicar Bishop Ioan of Soroca, metropolitan secretary and Cathedral Dean, Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Archimandrite Paisie (Tamazlacaru), monk superior of the St. George Monastery in the village Chirilovca, Floresti region, and an assembly of priests and deacons of the Cathedral.
The divine service was officiated in the presence of numerous church-goers gathered in the Cathedral to glorify God for all His mercy cast on our people, and to pray for the peace of the living and for the repose of those moved to a better life.
Today’s Gospel Reading (Matthew 9:1-8) tells us about the miraculous healing of a paralytic man, brought to Lord Jesus Christ by his friends. Jesus released him with the words, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you”, showing thus His Godness and the relation between sins and human sickness.
This Sunday’s service was very special for Ion Chisalita, graduate of the Theological Academy of Moldova, who was ordained deacon and appointed to office in the St. George Monastery in Chirilovca, Floresti. On this blessed occasion, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir congratulated the young cleric and wished him to be a worthy servant of the Holy Altar, bearing his cross with humility and abnegation.
The Liturgy ended with a Thanks-Giving service, and the church-goers were released in peace, for a blessed and thoughtful living in Christ.
