Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. (Matthew 5, 23-24).
Metropolitan Vladimir officiated the Vespers service and the Rite of Forgiveness at the Metropolitan Cathedral.
The prayers were shared with H.G. Ioan, Bishop of Soroca and Metropolitan Vicar, H.G. Siluan, Bishop of Orhei and Metropolitan Vicar, Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Metropolitan Secretary and Cathedral Dean, and hundreds of clergy and lay Christians.
After the service, the Metropolitan talked about the significance, atmosphere, and the fruits of Great Lent.
The hierarch asked forgiveness from all those present, and then every believer present in the church came up to the Metropolitan to ask forgiveness.
“My dear, the Lent is a very good reason for increased prayer and good acts. Spiritual fasting means the fast of the feelings – the mouth doesn’t talk untrue things, the eyes do not look at tempting and destructing things, the ears do not listen to vain talks. Blessed are those who combine spiritual fast with physical restraint, because this ascetic act brings the shining face of Christian humility”, mentioned the Metropolitan.
