The Lord’s Entrance into Jerusalem, also known as the Palm Sunday, is one of the 12 Great Feasts celebrated by the Orthodox Church.
This holy event gathered hundreds of Christians in the Metropolitan Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in the centre of Chisinau, who came to pray together with Metropolitan Vladimir, the Cathedral’ Dean Archpriest Vadim Cheibas and the Cathedral clergy.
The president of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Igor Dodon, and the first lady, shared the prayers with the faithful community.
During the Divine Service, deacon Nocolae Caprar was ordained into priesthood and appointed to ministry in the St. Diomid parish in Chisinau.
Traditionally, the church-goers brought willow branches and flowers to the holy shrine, in sign of greeting of the Lord at His Entrance to Jerusalem.
At the end of the service, the Metropolitan blessed the branches brought by Christians who virtually inundated the square in front of the Cathedral.
