Eighth year consecutively, on the Feast of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir invites children to the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral. This year about 400 children from various placement centres in Chisinau gathered at the Cathedral.
The day began with the Divine Liturgy, celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, assisted by Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, the Metropolitan secretary and dean of the Cathedral, Archpriest Octavian Mosin, dean of the students’ Chapel of Moldova State University, and the cathedral clergy.
After the Divine Service, Metropolitan Vladimir was congratulated on the baptismal saint’s day, as since birth and till the monastic tonsure he bore the name of Nicolae. The hierarch also congratulated the praying community on the Feast of St. Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia.
It has become a tradition between the Metropolitan Cathedral and Chisinau Municipal Child’s Rights Protection Department (MCRPD), to distribute gifts on the Feast of St. Nicholas and Christmas, as well as on other holidays, to children with disabilities and those with special needs. Thus, numerous children received the archpastor’s blessing and gifts.
Present at the event was also Mrs. Rodica Terehovschi, Head of Chisinau MCRPD, who delivered a message to all those present in the Cathedral, showing deep thankfulness and high appreciation of the Church’s involvement into charity activities for the improvement of the lives of the most vulnerable people.
Also today the Archpastor awarded church distinctions to a group of veterans from the Ministry of the Internal Affairs.
