Moscow, December 13, Interfax – The Russian Church insists on cancelling mandatory health insurance coverage for abortions.
“Abortions should stop being a part of mandatory health insurance, a norm of life for doctors, women and men, acceptable practice for society. Pregnancy is not an illness, and abortion is not a normal medical operation,” head of the Synodal Department for Church, Society and Media Relations Vladimir Legoyda said in his article published on Tuesday by Izvestia daily.
He reminded that abortion made on woman’s wish is a paid procedure in the majority of countries .
“Even the most prosperous state will not distribute free drugs, tobacco and alcohol, though they are legally allowed, but evidently harm people’s health. No one will ever think of buying a dose for drug addicts on the state’s account in order to prevent them from committing crimes, which can inflict harm to their health,” the author sums up.
