On the Fourth Sunday after Holy Pascha, the Sunday when the Orthodox Church commemorates the healing of the paralyzed man in Bethesda, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and All Moldova celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau.
The Metropolitan was assisted at the service by His Grace Ioan, Bishop of Soroca and Vicar of the Metropolis, and the Cathedral clergy.
The Gospel reading on this Sunday relates about the miraculous healing of the paralyzed man in Bethesda, near the Sheep Gate. That man had been paralyzed for 38 years, and his long patience was rewarded by Lord Jesus, who healed him and advised him not to sin again: “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you” (John 5, 14)
During the Divine Service, deacon Serghei Gogu was ordain priest and appointed to St. Basil the Great parish in Chisinau. The Hierarch congratulated the young cleric and advised him to be worthy servant of the Holy Altar, bearing with virtue the holy cross and spreading and strengthening the faith among people.
The Liturgy ended with a Thanks-giving service, where the clergy and the faithful gave glory to the Lord, thanking God for the utmost mercy cast on the humanity.
