Thursday, 29 December 2016, joint annual meeting of monastic superiors and circumscriptions deans of Chisinau Diocese was chaired by His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and All Moldova.
Present at the event were His Grace Ioan, Bishop of Soroca and Metropolitan Vicar, Chairman of Synodal Sector of Institutional Communication and Relations with Mass-Media, His Grace Siluan, Bishop of Soroca and Metropolitan Vicar, Chairman of Synodal Sector of Monasteries and Monastic living, Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Metropolitan Secretary and Dean of Sector 1 of Chisinau church circumscription, district deans, monastic superiors from Chisinau Diocese.
At the event inauguration, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir announced the meeting agenda and made an overview of the most important ecclesiastic and missionary events of the passing year, including the beatification of two prominent figures of the Orthodox Church of Moldova: St. Hierarch Gavriil Banulescu Bodoni and Blessed Mother Agafia of Cuselauca.
The Metropolitan also made an appreciation of the activity of monasteries and church deaneries, talking about the major achievements, facts and events, but also mentioning areas that require more development and improvement in terms of clerical discipline and the role of the priest in the society.
Further on, the floor was given to the Vicar Bishops, who reported on the actual situation of churches and monasteries, outlining specifically the major events that occurred in the last quarter of the passing year.
The discussion also covered important issues in the church community life, such as the teaching of Religion in school, collaboration between the Church and local public authorities, sectarian proselytism in certain communities and deaneries, etc.
Fr. Octavian Mosin, Chief Editor of the Metropolitan publication “Altarul Credintei” (The Altar of Faith) presented the issue of this church magazine, heartily thanking the subscribers and suggesting to the auditory that all people of good will were invited to support this unique church magazine in the country. Due to certain difficulties, it was possible to issue only one number of the magazine in the year 2016, but the issue was doubled, compared to previous publications. Readers can subscribe to the magazine in any post office, mentioning the subscription index 21556.
Closing the meeting, Metropolitan Vladimir thanked the monastic superiors and church district deans for the fruitful pastoral and missionary activity and for their abnegated, worthy and harmonious ministry in the communities under their spiritual guidance, wishing them true pastoral achievements and spiritual joy among the Christian flock.
