On the 20th Sunday after the Pentecost, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Lord.
Concelebrating at the Divine Service were His Grace Bishop Ioan of Soroca, Vicar of the Metropolis of Chisinau and All Moldova, the recently ordained Bishop Siluan of Orhei, Vicar of the Metropolis of Chisinau and All Moldova, Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, metropolitan secretary, and the priests and deacons of the Metropolitan Cathedral.
During the Divine Liturgy, the archpastors and the Cathedral clergy prayed together with the faithful community, for the Heavenly Protection of Lord Jesus Christ, for the perseverance of spiritual virtues, and for the strengthening of hope for the life eternal.
This Sunday’s Gospel Reading about the poor Lazarus and the merciless rich man encourages the Christians to increase in the virtue of patience and hope for the Lord, without condemning anyone, even the merciless.
This reading shows us that after death the body and the soul lives and recollects all acts that occurred during earthly life. The merciless ones lose their salvation, while love and sympathy for the suffering ones inherit the Kingdom of God, along with the saints.
After the Divine Liturgy, a Thanks-Giving service was officiated, and the Archpastor of the Orthodox Church of Moldova presented the recently ordained Bishop Siluan to the faithful community, mentioning that His Grace Siluan is a worthy and energetic servant of the Holy Altar, who has exhibited love of the holy matters, through concrete actions during years of service, aimed at strengthening people’s faith and bringing them closer to God.
His Grace Siluan thanked the Metropolitan for warm words of consolidation and support, mentioning that his will continue to serve Jesus Christ and be a worthy and humble son of the Orthodox Church of Moldova.
