On the 10th Sunday after Pentecost, the doors of the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral were open for numerous church-goers, gathered to rejoice in the Lord along with the His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, Hierarch of the Moldovan Church, and the clergy of the Cathedral.

Today’s Gospel reading reminds the Orthodox Christians about the healing of the lunatic child (Matthew 17:14-23) and the power of faith. Lord Jesus repeatedly teaches us that a faithful person can be very strong and work real miracles: “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you” (Mat. 17:20). Christ also underlines that true victory over the evil is possible only with prayer and fasting.

During the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence Vladimir officiated the diaconal ordination of theology academy student Serghei Paiu, who was appointed to service in the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Tomorrow, 1/14 August, the Dormition of the Theotokos Fast begins, and the believers were explained the spiritual meaning of this important period before the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God (15/28 August).

After thanks-giving prayers, the church-goers left in peace the holy shrine, invited to come tomorrow, to participate in divine service on the first day of the Dormition fast.
